Volterra, Toscana, Italia

Architecture: Joints and segments serve as the frame though which you perceive space.

Language: Volterra is beautiful, charming even, but we had this tour guide… she articulated everything like Rosalind Russell in Auntie Mame but in the most irksome way.  It was this air of pretension and because of it Volterra is now associated with that quality, which is really sad because it irrevocably altered my perception of this little hill town.
